Why are all the National Park Service sites down?
All Department of Interior Web sites, including the National Park Service site, have been shut down due to security violations. A U.S. District Court judge ordered the sites shut down Dec. 7 because of fears that security loopholes in the Interior Dept. computer system may have resulted in the loss of billions of dollars of Native American trust money. More than 100 Web sites, such as those for the U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service and the Bureau of Land Management, will remain closed until the security violations are repaired.
