Where can I find recycling information?
In 1997, U.S. residents, businesses and institutions produced more than 200 million tons of municipal solid waste, according to the Environmental Protection Agency. Twenty-eight percent of that waste was recycled or composted.
The EPA Municipal Solid Waste Management site offers basic facts and tips on producing less waste by practicing the three Rs -- reducing, reusing and recycling. The site also provides information on landfills, EPA initiatives and state programs. A Students and Teachers Page offers educational materials, including a curriculum for solid waste awareness.
