Where can I learn about anthrax?
Several outbreaks of anthrax have left many Americans wondering what they can do to protect themselves. While the government is calling the incidences "acts of terrorism," it is also asking the public not to panic about the possible threat of bioterrorism.
According to the Centers for Disease Control, anthrax is a disease caused by a spore-forming bacterium. Symptoms of the illness usually occur seven days after exposure and resemble a common cold. Anthrax is not contagious and infection can be prevented with antibiotics. Read the fact sheet to learn more.
