Presidential Debates
Televised debates allow candidates to face one another and the nation at large. The Commission on Presidential Debates has proposed that the 2008 Debates take place on the following dates:
- First presidential debate:
Friday, September 26, University of Mississippi, Oxford, MS
- Vice presidential debate:
Thursday, October 2, Washington University in St. Louis, MO
- Second presidential debate:
Tuesday, October 7, Belmont University, Nashville, TN
- Third presidential debate:
Wednesday, October 15, Hofstra University, Hempstead, NY
- Danville, KY and Wake Forest University in Winston-Salem, NC, have been selected as alternate sites.

This nonpartisan, nonprofit organization's purpose is to sponsor and produce debates for United States presidential and vice presidential candidates and to undertake research and educational activities relating to the debates.
