Comparing violent crime rates in more than 400 U.S. cities, CQ Press found that Fishers, Ind., topped the 2011 list of America's Safest Cities [pdf]. O'Fallon, Mo., Mission Viejo, Calif., Ramapo, N.Y. and Newton, Mass., round out the top five. The annual report, using data from the F.B.I.'s "Crime in the United States," ranks the cities in six different crime areas: murder, rape, burglary, robbery, aggravated assault and motor vehicle theft.
