National Archives

The goal of the National Archives and Records Administration is to
"preserve our nation's history by overseeing the management of all Federal records."
The National Archives has massive holdings that document "the rights of American citizens,
the actions of federal officials and the national experience." While not all of the records
are available online, the web site can direct you to which
national facilities
have the actual documents. Visit the Research Room
to learn more about NARA's holdings. Learn how to access the
Nixon White House Tapes and the
JFK Assassination Records.
NARA also has many documents useful to genealogists,
such as census and immigration records. Browse the Exhibit Hall
for information about current exhibitions in Washington, D.C.
